GAME OVERVIEW

Apocalypse Cats is a cooperative boss fight card game for 1-6 players age 10+. Each player controls one of the six playable Cats using their unique deck to hunt one of the four Pestilent Bosses and their hordes of minions. If you’ve played Sentinels of the Multiverse or Aeon’s End, add some light euro elements and a doom clock and you get the general idea. A game session lasts between 1.5-3 hours, depending on the number of players and how much time you spend looking at cat pictures in comical combat poses.

BATTLE AS A TEAM AGAINST A BOSS

COMPLETE MINI CHALLENGES TO UNLOCK YOUR TABLEAU

Each Cat deck includes a set of Scheme cards, which can be activated by completing mini-challenges such as defeat two pests at once or give healing to other Cats. Once active, the Schemes generate resources in the form of Instincts, which can be used to purchase tokens from the central token market, as well as special token generators available only to that specific Cat. Tokens can be used to modify cards, buff allies, debuff enemies, or move about the battlefield.

STRATEGIZE IN A BATTLEFIELD SKIRMISH

Each round, the Pestilent Boss sends forth a wave of minion pests to distract the cats and try to escape. Minions can be fast or slow, and positioned in close, ranged, and safe zones, creating a new combat challenge each time. Cats take position and use zone-specific or universal abilities to keep the pests under control. But the Cats must keep the pressure on the Pestilent Boss, if they get too caught up with the minions, the Boss will escape and the Cats will fail the hunt!
