GAME OVERVIEW
Apocalypse Cats is a cooperative boss fight card game for 1-6 players aged 10+. Each player controls one of six cats using their unique deck to battle one of the four Pestilent Bosses and their hordes of minions. Every cat wields and upgrades a personalized deck filled with charming, comical art that showcases their distinct combat style and personality, alongside a second modifier deck that boosts their actions. A game session lasts between 1.5-3 hours, depending on the number of players and how much time you spend admiring the art. Players describe it as Sentinels of the Multiverse and Aeon’s End meet Gloomhaven and Zombicide.
BATTLE AS A TEAM AGAINST A BOSS
DOUBLE DECK BUILDER MEANS DOUBLE THE STRATEGY
Cats are played with two decks: the Skill deck, containing actions like attack and heal, and the Mod deck, which modifies the skill deck and provides instinct, the currency used to upgrade your decks. Need a stronger attack? Add a +1 Mod. Want to do damage over time? Add a Poison Mod. Then spend your remaining instinct to buy new Skill cards or Mod cards, or to destroy unwanted ones from either deck. This dual-deck system offers nearly endless ways to customize any cat to your playstyle.
STRATEGIZE IN A BATTLEFIELD SKIRMISH
Each round, the Pestilent Boss unleashes a wave of minions to attack the cats. These foes can be fast or slow and appear across three battlefield zones, creating fresh combat challenges every time. The cats must coordinate their attacks and positioning to keep the pests at bay while strengthening their Skill and Mod decks throughout the game. Meanwhile, the Boss advances toward their ultimate scheme.
